AGICO Rail Fishplate
Rail fishplate, also known as fish plate joint or railway track expansion joints, are a vital component of the railway track system. Their main function is to connect adjacent rails. In addition, fishplates are usually used in conjunction with fishbolts, which saves effort and is more convenient to install than rail butt welding technology. Railroad fishplates are often designed and manufactured according to different types and sizes of rails to ensure they are perfectly matched to the specific type of rail.
AGICO Railway Factory has more than 30 years of technical experience in the field of railway fishplate manufacturing, and our products have passed strict testing and approval in South American, European and Southeast Asian markets. We are committed to producing various types of railway fishplates to adapt to various rail sections, including 30LBS rail, 60LBS rail, 85LBS rail, 90LBS rail, 115RE rail, 136RE rail, UIC54 rail, UIC60 rail, etc. We not only focus on the quality and performance of our products, but also on providing a full range of services to meet our customers’ different needs in railway engineering.

Do You Have A Railway Project We Can Help With?
Types of Fish Plate
- Classified by Use:
- Standard Fish Plate
Standard fish plates are one of the most common joining devices for joining rails of the same size and profile. The design consists of a flat carbon steel plate with four bolt holes for use with fish bolts. This fishplate has two fixing points on each side of it to ensure a secure connection on the track. This fishplate has two fixing points on each side of it to ensure a secure connection on the track. Standard fish plates have a simple structure and are easy to install and maintain, so they are used in a wide range of application scenarios. Its length can be flexibly adjusted according to different rail sizes, providing more applicability.
2. Compromise Fish Plate
Compromise joint fishplate is a uniquely designed railway connecting device, mainly used to connect rails of different sizes or models. Since there are different sizes or shapes of rails in railway systems, standard fish plate cannot meet the connection needs. Compromise joint fishplates provide a flexible solution for connecting old and new rails, different types of rails and special rails, enhancing the applicability of railway projects. Compromise joint fishplates require more skill in installation than standard fish plate because they need to be installed at an angle to accommodate different rail sizes. Additionally, to ensure alignment between rails, compromise joint fish plate require more frequent maintenance and inspections.
3. Insulating Fish Plate
Insulated fish plate is a railway connection device specially designed for electrical insulation requirements. Its manufacturing materials mainly use insulating materials, which are designed to effectively reduce electrical conduction and improve insulation performance. The dimensions of insulated fish plates are the same as ordinary fishplates. Insulating fish plates are usually used in railway sections or leaky sections near power plants to effectively prevent leakage accidents. It can also resist erosion from corrosive media such as rain, acid and alkali, ensuring its stability under various environmental conditions. Under normal use, the service life of insulating fish plates can reach more than 20 years.

How to Choose Railway Track Joints
1. Track model and size: The rail joint bar must match the track model and size. For different models and sizes of track, the shape, size and connection method of the rail joint bar will also be different. Make sure they match and form a smooth connect.
2. Connection method: The most common connection methods are bolted connection and welded connection. Welded connection usually has higher strength, but the construction process is more complicated. Choose the appropriate connection method based on your project’s budget and specific needs.
3. Usage environment: Consider the specific environment where the rail joint bar will be installed, including climate conditions, humidity, corrosion degree, etc., to select appropriate materials and protective measures.
4. Load requirements: Different application scenarios may have different load requirements. If you want to ensure the safety of the railway, when choosing a rail joint bar, make sure it can withstand the pressure and impact of train operation.
- AGICO has some specific suggestions for choosing railway track joints:
- For heavy-duty railways, steel railway track joints with higher strength should be selected.
- For light-haul railways, lower-cost cast iron railway track joints may be considered.
- Standard bolts should be used to connect the railway track joints.
- When choosing the thickness and length of your railway track joints, you should consult a professional.
- Packaging of Railway Track Expansion Joints
In order to protect the railway track expansion joints from damage during transportation and facilitate transportation and loading and unloading, AGICO will use a variety of packaging methods, including wooden box packaging, steel box packaging, strapping packaging , according to the number and size of the railway track expansion joints, transportation distance and method, use environment and customer needs.
